Chocolate Ganache is a heavenly icing made of chocolate and cream. Chocolate has always been one of my weaknesses. I could eat it as a meal. Shocking I know! When I got a little older and wiser. I learned to take care of my health more.
Just kidding, older and wiser, was only part of the reason. When my teeth and skin started complaining I toned it down a little.
Now I eat chocolate in moderation.

Sometimes though I go all out and have a real chocolate binge, Involving bars of whole nut chocolate, plain chocolate, dark, any really.
Every now and then, I also throw in some Tim Tams. If you don’t know what those are you have to try them out!! Oh my goodness, divine! They’re a biscuit filled with chocolate and are designed to have coffee sucked through the center.
As the hot coffee soaks in the chocolate melts, the biscuit softens, and you’re left with a mouthful of wonderful chocolatey goodness. Seriously, how much better could it get! Chocolate, coffee, mmm!
Ok, you get the point I love love love chocolate!! My sister and I watched many of our favorite series with a cup of coffee in one hand and an entire family size bar of chocolate in the other. A bar each.

So, One Day I Discovered Chocolate Ganache!
Imagine my excitement when I discovered icing could be made out of chocolate! Chocolate Ganache is a heavenly icing made of chocolate and cream. I love two-ingredient recipes almost as much as I adore chocolate! Chocolate Ganache is only two!
I’m a huge fan of perfect presentation. Few things achieve the elegant and glossy finish of a chocolate ganache icing!
So now my recipe. Some will say you need the perfect temperature and fancy pots. However, I’m not scientific in the least. So I just made mine through trial and error.
It’s not hard at all! My chocolate ganache has turned out perfectly every time (or my version of perfect anyway). If you love quick easy recipes, download this one or save it to your Pinterest. It’s worth it!
The only two things you’ll need are good quality chocolate and cream. You really don’t have to break the bank just don’t buy the cheapest option. The cream can be either long-life or fresh. Both work well.

Melted chocolate combined with cream creates a smooth and heavenly taste of delicious perfection. This ganache is the most amazing icing for a chocolate cake!
80g Milk or Dark Chocolate
Long-life or Fresh Cream (amount depends on consistency)
- Melt the chocolate using a double-boiler. If you don’t have one just use a small pot and a larger pot. Fill the larger pot with water and put it on the stove. Place the smaller pot into the larger one resting the handles on the rim to prevent the bases of the pots from touching.
- Place the chocolate in the small pot and stir until melted.
- Slowly add room temperature cream, whilst stirring, until the mixture reaches pouring consistency.
- Pour evenly over your cake and place in the refrigerator for at least an hour to set.
- Store in the refrigerator. It keeps really well!
What To Use Chocolate Ganache On
Well, anything that goes well with chocolate. If you love ice cream it makes a heavenly chocolate sauce! Or you could drizzle it over some delicious Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies to add a little extra chocolatey goodness!
